Removal Mechanism of Mineral Impurities in Molybdenum Concentrate Treatment Process

The removal of impurities in molybdenum concentrate has become a new challenge for enterprises due to the cancellation pickling. Whether impurity minerals can be converted into soluble ions during roasting is important by current water washing. In this work, interaction between various elements treatment process was studied simulation experiments combined with X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and diffraction (XRD), inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES), ion chromatography (IC), scanning electron microscope-energy dispersive spectrometry (SEM-EDS), use FactSage7.0 modeling mineral liberation analyzer (MLA). results show that most such as K, Si Al exist form alkaline large molecular weight. concentrate, K-containing minerals, muscovite orthoclase, transformed K+, Al3+ other ions, then removed Humidification increased conversion degree orthoclase which conducive washing process. MLA microscopic analysis confirmed FeS2, CaSO4, SiO2, especially would high density mixture MoO3 temperature process, thus reduced leaching rate Mo. Therefore, humidification control an effective measure remove impurities.
